Established in 1994, Kri Eco was the first dive resort to open in Raja Ampat and has been beautifully maintained and renovated to keep to its high standard.
The resort is built from natural local materials by local craftsmen and has a low environmental impact. It is designed to naturally blend in with the unspoiled tropical surroundings.
The 14 beautiful guest rooms of a traditional Papuan design, the restaurant and lounge areas are built on stilts over the water to maximise the relaxing sound of the the sea.
The rooms are a few steps from natural undisturbed jungle where the song of beautiful tropical birds can be heard from dawn to dusk. It gives the resort a truly close to nature feel and naturally relaxing feel.
Waking to the song of tropical birds is a wonderful way to start the day and after a days amazing diving or snorkelling, the end of the day is illustrated with a spectacular sunset.
For those wishing to relax in solitude the resort is small and spacious enough to enjoy personal space in one of the few remaining places on Earth that is still sparsely populated.
From the rooms, lounges and restaurant many aquatic creatures can be observed without needed to step into the water. The shallow water around the resort is a nursery for many different of species, including Juvenile Blacktip reef sharks which can been seen cruising up and down the waters edge.
The restaurant serves delicious Indonesian inspired food in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. There are many opportunities to meet interesting people and swap stories or aquatic discoveries from the day at the communal style tables. The food also includes a variety of local vegetables and fruits so vegetarian comfortably eat without special preparations. Drinking water, coffee and tea are provided free of charge, as are snacks for longer excursions on the boats. Fresh fruit juices, soft drinks and beer are available for an extra charge.
Our boat diving service offer an experience that is personal, comfortable, and highly convenient. Our dive boats are planned with a maximum of 6 guest divers per boat with a minimum of 2 dive guides. This means most of the best dive sites in Raja Ampat are with short speed boat trip from the resorts. After a short journey of between 1 to 15 minutes you are back at the resort to refresh and relax in comfort.
Full or half day dive excursions are also scheduled during your stay depending on the guest’s interests. These provide the opportunity for sightseeing and surface photo opportunities during the trip and a surface interval to visit a local Papuan village, beach or some other beautiful location. Lunch/snacks and warm/cold drinks are provided on the longer excursions where the boat is not returning directly to resort after the dive. Some longer excursions maybe subject to a fuel surcharge (please see price list for details). We include an excursion to the popular Manta locations and the Passage for free in a full weeks diving.
The boat service provides 3 guided boats dives per day plus an optional night/dusk dive. This is usually planned as 2 dives in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and if requested an additional
night dive. The service operates 6 days a week Saturday evening to Friday evening every week (see diving on Saturday section).
Towels and fresh water are always provided on the boats so there is no need to bring anything from the guest rooms.
Our dive guides will take care in ensuring your dive equipment is ready (divers need to analyse their own Nitrox). They will wash and stow the equipment after the diving.
Our boat fleet includes 8 fiberglass boats, all built by our local craftsmen on the island. Each boat is fitted with twin 40/50HP engines for speed and extra security.
