Walea Dive Resort
Walea Dive & SPA Resort is located in a private area of Waleabahi Island, in the centre of the Protected Area. Small and exclusive, it’s composed only by 13 recently enlarged and renovated cottages that look out onto the sea. In the heart of Sulawesi, Walea Dive Resort is the only Marine Park/ Protected Area in Indonesia that offers more than two hundered square kilometers of untouched sea for a maximum of thirty-five visitors per day.
The 13 beautiful seafront cottages are built to fit into the embracing nature with almost no visual and environmental impact. The cottages combines comfort, elegance, harmony and simplicity, without any unnecessary excess. The dinatural materials: wood, stone and glass. Double walls and double roofs, covered by the traditional “katu”, to keep the bungalows cool, expedient without air conditioning. There is a also a large hand-decorated paved porch and a bathroom covered in mosaic tiles with water heated by solar panels. The cottages offer: sun loungers, bath and beach towels, hairdryers, shampoo, hair conditioner, body wash and body lotions with the fragrances of flowers, fruits and natural spices, made exclusively for Walea Dive Resort.
The majority of Walea Dive Resort dive sites are coral reefs, visible from the surface, and so perfect for snorkeling. They have walls on some sides and on others are connected to each other deep. Such an underwater configuration offers an incredible variety of profiles and dives. While a few dive sites is more suited to experienced divers, all the others offer the best conditions for peaceful dives, ideal both for macro and landscape photography.
In such a generous sea, so rich in life forms, every dive turns into a new submarine worlds discovery; every dive becomes the occasion of always new encounters.
In Walea’s Marine Park diving sites are really numerous. The variety of environments and life forms that can be found here make every dive an unforgettable and unrepeatable experience. Even the same site in two different moments is not the same.
A sea like this, so full in terms of life forms, gives you the possibility of many different and occasional encounters.
Dive sites are quite close and easily reachable by speedboats.
As always, the most beautiful colours and coral diversity can be found in shallow water, but in some places it is worthwhile to dive deeper profiles.
The divers who arrive to Walea can appreciate the rarity of its beautiful and pristine reefs, enhanced by ideal environmental conditions and by the skills of dive guides to find amazing critters like pygmy seahorse, ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, crustaceans and much more.
The dive sites offer is wide and includes coral gardens and drop offs, from easy levels for beginner divers to more challenging current dives for expert divers.
